The development of renewable energy production technologies has led to the improvement of storage systems consisting of batteries. Both large and small battery configurations need to be protected from over-discharge that would damage them. Battery protection is designed to protect battery systems from dangerous discharge.
It is designed to operate at a nominal current of up to 100A, and to withstand a peak current of 600A. Disconnects loads from the battery when a certain level of discharge is reached. Switches without sparking (no relays). It can be used in 12 and 24 - volt systems (works in the range 6 - 35V). There are 10 programmable cut-off voltages. It can be monitored and programmed with the Bluetooth device.
When using Bluetooth, all necessary on/off levels can be set. Alternatively, one of the preset on/off levels can be set with the programming pin (please refer to the manual). If necessary, Bluetooth can be disabled.
In this mode the battery protection can be controlled by Victron's VE.Bus BMS.
Note: The protection can also be used as a charge cut-off between a charger and a Li-ion battery. Please refer to the wiring diagram in the manual.
This is especially important when working with Li-ion batteries, including after low voltage shutdown. For more information, see the Li-ion battery data sheet and the VE.Bus BMS manual.
To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is tripped whenever the DC voltage exceeds 16.3V or 32.6V respectively
If you want to have a modern and safe solar system with an energy storage unit, check out the Battery Protection 100A with Bluetooth. With a rated current of 100A and a peak current of 600A, and an optimal price, it is an excellent means of protecting your system from damage due to deep discharge.
