GEL deep cycle batteries

Batteries with applications in many fields

They got their name from the gel electrolyte they work with. They are used in both industrial and home solar systems, UPS, caravans, yachts and more. They are divided into two types: starter and stationary.

Differences and close features with AGM batteries

  •      They don't need servicing;
  •      Can be used for solar systems (stationary models only). Manufacturers' instructions should be checked;
  •      The number of charge/discharge cycles is greater;
  •      At high current discharge, they have a lower effective capacity than AGM.

Starter batteries are not suitable for solar systems and for UPS

They are designed to start the engine and then receive an instant charge from the alternator. They are not designed to deliver current for a long time and in such a mode they are quickly damaged.

Conclusion

Gel batteries are widely used in household and industry. They have a longer cycle life compared to AGM and flooded to. They need minimal maintenance. It is important that they are well selected according to the load and combined with the correct chargers.
